Living With a Temperamental Adonis: 99 Proclamations of Love

Chapter 443: Pulled Together by Fate (6)

Song Qingchun held Su Zhinian’s gaze for several seconds before realizing she was still sitting in the puddle. Her face started to blush greatly as she lowered her head out of embarrassment. Then, with a hand pushed against the floor, she finally crawled up into a standing position.

Due to her leg injury, as she struggled to stand upright, she faltered and almost collapsed back to the ground.

Thankfully, Su Zhinian, who stood beside her, quickly reached out to grab her arm to stop her from tumbling.

"Thank you." Song Qingchun raised her eyes to glance at Su Zhinian.

Su Zhinian didn’t answer. As she found her footing, he released his grasp on her arm immediately. He wanted to say, ’Do you need me to send you to the nearest hospital to get your wound checked out?’ However, by the time the words reached his throat, they’d changed, and he ended up saying, "You were looking for me?"

Song Qingchun replied with a confused "hmm" before remembering her entire purpose and shoved the bag toward Su Zhinian.

Thankfully... when Fang Rou folded his clothes, she had wrapped them inside a plastic bag, so they weren’t dirtied.

Song Qingchun sighed in relief and held out the bag for Su Zhinian, explaining, "This is your stuff that you accidentally left at my home. Dad said, since you’d just left, he wanted me to chase after you to give it back to you."

"Okay," Su Zhinian replied a low voice and stared at the proffered bag for a long time as if hesitating before reaching out slowly to grab it.

His fingertip just so happened to touch hers, and in that brief moment of contact, she felt a heated sensation travel right into her heart.

His temperature doesn’t seem right.

Song Qingchun frowned and her hands that she should be pulling back halted. The next second, she realized that Su Zhinian seem to be suffering from a high fever.

"You..." Just like how she used to when they shared the same house, she turned her face up at him and wanted to ask if he had a high fever.

However, only one word left her mouth when she realized they no longer shared any sort of relationship, and her concern would only sound like she was being extra clingy.

Song Qingchun ruminated on it, and when she pulled her hand back, she said awkwardly instead, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving."

When their fingertips touched, he read her internal thoughts.

It is indeed as I thought; in her heart, I’ve become nothing more than a stranger.

Su Zhinian’s gaze dimmed slightly before he lowered his head. Shielded from Song Qingchun’s gaze, his lips were stretched into a thin line. Then, he nodded and said, "Okay."

"Then..." Song Qingchun paused. He seems to be burning up, is he really okay? From the looks of it, his face is extra white. Is he sure he doesn’t need medical attention?

She was reminded of how Su Zhinian would always ride it out without going to the hospital whenever he was sick or injured. This was something she had observed while staying with him, so her thought at the time was... Is he going to return to his house and wait until the fever naturally blows over?

Song Qingchun’s heart shook with pain. She bit on her lips and slowly finished her sentence. "...goodbye."

"Okay, goodbye," Su Zhinian replied in a level tone as he stood where he was.

Song Qingchun hesitated for a moment before walking away. However, she barely took the first step when Su Zhinian, who was standing in front of her, started to sway before collapsing fully into her grasp.
