Vol.3-Chapter 42 – Going Together

Seeing the Tiger Flood Dragon making another move, Pei Su Su, who had just relaxed because Zhao Jiuge’s armor had blocked the hit, became tense once more.

Spirit force filled her body, and she released it in an instant. A ray of black spirit force shot out toward the Tiger Flood Dragon. At the same time, her sword released a ray of sword energy toward its head.

However, even with Pei Su Su’s quick reaction, she was one step too late. The Tiger Flood Dragon completed its attack.

Zhao Jiuge could only watch the Tiger Flood Dragon open its mouth and spit out a pillar of spirit force. Even though it hadn’t touched him, Zhao Jiuge could already feel a chill.

This Tiger Flood Dragon was a rare species that had its own bloodline ability. The spirit light pillar it had spat out contained a powerful ice attribute.

Fortunately, although the collision before was fierce, it had been buffered by the armor, pushing Zhao Jiuge back a few meters. No matter how powerful he was, he couldn’t react in time. Only now did he realize he had been too careless. Before, he was using the Tiger Flood Dragon to temper his body, but the Tiger Flood Dragon was trying to make him lower his guard to find a chance to strike.

Zhao Jiuge secretly cursed at this beast for being cunning. No wonder so many powerful people lost to opponents weaker than them.

Little Black, who had been enjoying the show, seemed to have noticed the danger Zhao Jiuge was in. His expression was calm and he was focused on the battle.

The expression of the bald young man that was hidden nearby also became serious, and he softly complained, “He really doesn’t know how to use the treasure that he has. He has the supreme Sanskrit Divine Body and only uses it like this. He doesn’t even know how to use the law body!”

This attack was so powerful that it would still threaten Zhao Jiuge’s life even with the armor. The bald young man was considering if he should help Zhao Jiuge, but that would disrupt his plan. While he hesitated, he saw a light that immediately dispelled his concerns.

Zhao Jiuge had put his hope on the armor when he saw the smiling Buddha appear around him once more. The golden lotus also appeared and slowly rotated around him.

Joy appeared in Zhao Jiuge’s face. The mysteriousness of this spell made him forget about the fact that he was in danger. He had a vague feeling that there was more power to this mysterious spell than meets the eye. He was not clear on the role of this smiling Buddha, but it had appeared when he was in danger several times before.

When the greyish-white light pillar touched the smiling Buddha around Zhao Jiuge, it immediately disappeared like snow melting. There was no sound at all; it appeared quickly but disappeared just as quickly. Only a few ripples spread around the golden light before calming down.

A muffled sound echoed. Before the Tiger Flood Dragon could close its mouth, blood splattered out. The sword energy had quietly stabbed into its head. Due to the speed of the sword energy, it arrived before the black spirit force did.

The Tiger Flood Dragon’s large body trembled and then stiffened after being hit by the sword energy. Its green eyes slowly became dim and lifeless.

In the blink of an eye, the black light Pei Su Su had released erupted and the Tiger Flood Dragon’s skin was cut open. Even though it was already dying, its body was still powerful and it had only suffered some external damage. Fortunately, the sword energy from before had already killed it.

All of this happened in a flash, but everything was seen clearly by the bald young man. The young man was filled with doubt. “Why does this woman know Pei Songtao’s Black Flame Divine Spell, and why does this man have our temple’s supreme Sanskrit Divine Body? Most strange of all, why are these two together?”

The bald young man muttered to himself, filled with doubt. He pondered for a bit before his eyes widened and he muttered, “No, I have to find out their identities. If the spell from our temple fell into the wrong person’s hands, it would be a sin. After finding their identities, I must tell my teacher about this.”

Thinking about this, the bald young man made a decision. He took a deep breath and decided to slowly walk forward.

“Blockhead, are you alright?”

The Tiger Flood Dragon’s vitality was completely gone. Its body remained motionless on the ground and its blood was flowing out. Pei Su Su nervously looked at Zhao Jiuge and carefully checked his injury.

The danger had disappeared along with the smiling Buddha. The golden light around Zhao Jiuge’s body disappeared and his hands were covered in wounds. Some of the wounds weren’t much better than the ones on the Tiger Flood Dragon.

“I’m fine. I had a lot of fun fighting. My body has become much stronger after being tempered in this battle.”

Zhao Jiuge shook his head and didn’t care about the wound on his body. He was still immersed in the feeling of tempering his body just now. Then his gaze inadvertently swept over the corpse of the Tiger Blood Dragon.

“Ah, I’m fine, but this Tiger Flood Dragon isn’t. This was supposed to be a very good material, but you destroyed it.”

The skin of the Tiger Flood Dragon had been destroyed by Pei Su Su’s black spirit force. Although it wasn’t completely destroyed, it was covered in holes.

Zhao Jiuge’s tone startled Pei Su Su. Once she understood his intent, she rolled her eyes. “What’s so important about these dead things? Can you compare it to your own life? Even if you have treasures, what\'s the point if you can’t use them? Let’s see if you dare to be careless again in the future. I told you to be careful, yet you relied on such a method to temper your body.”

At this point, Pei Su Su stopped. When she saw Zhao Jiuge’s heartbroken expression, she couldn’t continue anymore. She grew up in a very good environment where she lacked nothing and could have anything she wanted. Zhao Jiuge was not the same—he had to struggle to obtain everything. In order to improve his strength, he had to risk his life just like now.

Thinking about this, Pei Su Su’s heart softened, and she couldn’t bear to scold Zhao Jiuge anymore. She stretched out her tender hand and gently looked at the wounds on Zhao Jiuge’s arms. She gently said, “Even though the materials are gone, there is still the inner core of the beast. That’s the most valuable part of this beast. It can be used to refine treasures or to help cultivate, not to mention its the core of a strong exotic species.

However, the moment Pei Su Su spoke, Zhao Jiuge looked at the body of the Tiger Flood Dragon and let out a heart-wrenching wail.

It turned out Little Black had already eagerly made his way to the Tiger Flood Dragon while they were talking. His little hands reached into the belly of the beast and pulled out an inner core the size of a thumb nail.

The inner core was greyish-white, and although the Tiger Flood Dragon was dead, its inner core still exuded a soft halo. It was particularly eye-catching at night.

Little Black stared at the inner core without blinking. While he stared, he couldn’t help but swallow the saliva in his mouth.

When Little Black heard Pei Su Su’s words, he immediately awakened from his thoughts. His fur stood straight and he immediately devoured the inner core without any hesitation. At this moment, Zhao Jiuge could only watch a top-quality inner core disappear.

Little Black’s action and Zhao Jiuge’s mournful wail caused Pei Su Su to laugh. These two were simply too amusing.

“Little Black, you only know how to eat and sleep! Return my inner core to me!” Zhao Jiuge couldn’t help but let out an angry roar. Although he was angry, there was nothing to be done about it at this point. There was no way for Zhao Jiuge to actually get into a fight with Little Black over this. His relationship with Little Black was much stronger than a mere inner core.

Little Black didn’t seem to care about Zhao Jiuge’s mournful wail. After devouring the inner core, he even smacked his lips a few times like he was savoring the taste. Then he rubbed his belly covered in white fur. It was like he was taunting Zhao Jiuge with “So what if I eat the inner core? What can you do about it?”

Pei Su Su laughed so hard, she was almost convulsing and was beginning to feel some pain in her stomach from laughing.

“Hmph, how about I open you up and not only take out the tiger’s inner core, but also yours!”

Zhao Jiuge deliberately pretended to be vicious and stared at Little Black to scare him.

Little Black half-believed Zhao Jiuge, and his little eyes turned. When he saw Zhao Jiuge step forward, he revealed a look of fear and immediately jumped into Pei Su Su’s arms. He didn’t forget to look back at Zhao Jiuge.

Zhao Jiuge couldn’t endure it anymore and burst out laughing. Little Black seemed to understand now and looked at Zhao Jiuge with a resentful expression. However, he had devoured the inner core, so his mood was very good. He was too lazy to care about anything else, so he turned around to sleep in Pei Su Su’s arms! No longer looked like a chicken waiting to be slaughtered!

Little Black’s action not only caused Pei Su Su and Zhao Jiuge to laugh, but even the bald young man hidden nearby couldn’t help but laugh.

This sudden laughter was particularly sharp in the silent night. Zhao Jiuge and Pei Su Su were still laughing when their expressions froze.

“Who!?”

Zhao Jiuge looked to the left and let out a roar. The laughter had come from that direction. Pei Su Su also looked over with a serious expression.
