Vampire Overlord System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 185 - Surprised

-----

Bernard Gold, the Guild Master of the Golden Guardians Guild, the Guild that was #15 in Sector D I in terms of merit and strength rankings glanced the news through his phone.

In there, there was the announcement of a new Guild founded by a large group of B-Rank Hunters out of nowhere, named the Noctem Family.

The old man glanced at the picture of the Guild insignia, as he began to clench his fists in anger.

He clicked his tongue as he threw the phone away.

"So he still made his own guild at the end! Well, now it\'s official…" he sighed.

Bernard was a scheming old bastard that has survived through the apocalypse solely by extortion, always extorting and using those stronger than him, grabbing ahold of things essential to them, or even capturing their family members as prisoners… he had a dark past.

He used every type of underhanded method such as this to win each fight and used the Hunters to protect him, instead of fighting himself.

Like this, he survived through all of this and even managed to finally establish himself after the Apocalypse, within Sector D.

All the Hunters he always extortion and made into his puppets became his strong guardians, and he ended making a guild with them, the Golden Guardians.

Using underhanded methods, he constantly inspected any new Hunter that could be promising, and extorted them to join his guild, building up his reputation as a good man that always extended a hand to the talented yet unrecognized.

However, when things didn\'t go his way and other hunters made their own guilds instead of joining his… that\'s where he showed his true colors.

Perhaps if they joined a strong enough guild he wouldn\'t bother, but when they made their own guild?

No… that won\'t happen, he won\'t let more competence emerge.

This Sector was him to conquer and dominate, he would crush anyone that dared to defy him, or the guilds already established here which were equal or superior to his.

Any Hunter above D-Rank that he offered to join his guild but rejected him and chose to make their own guild ended up getting killed by his strong subordinates.

Not a single one of them has survived ever since then, and due to his authority and that of all the hunters he "owned" within his guild, the government couldn\'t do much against his actions without causing a total war against him, which would end up not benefiting them, as they held many transactions of items and resources acquired by Bernard\'s Hunters in high-rank dungeons.

Bernard Gold was a vicious fiend, the likes that Noah despised, not because he was a schemer, but because he manipulated the strong to do his bidding, and something within Noah\'s mind always found this wrong…

In a world where everyone fought for their lives and to survive, why were there people like him who didn\'t ever fight or did anything other than taking advantage of the ones that worked hard?

To Noah, Bernard was a pathetic rat.

And the old man himself knew this deep down.

He remembered his gaze.

His eyes suddenly turned crimson red when he glared at him…

The chills that ran through his spine as Noah gazed into him… this was pure bloodthirst.

Being seen like that by a poor street rat like Noah made Bernard incredibly angered.

He couldn\'t believe that this poor piece of shit that Noah was to his eyes would dare to deny his amazing offer!

And now, his guild was announced publicly, and many Hunters were interested in joining it due to the invitations and vacant being open for literally any Rank.

"He dares to begin recruitment immediately?! Tch! Well, who would even join such a guild without any background anyways?" said Bernard rather angrily.

A servant at his side brought back his phone after cleaning it with a handkerchief, as Bernard kept reading news.

However, as he scrolled upwards, the news suddenly updated, as something appeared that was published just five minutes ago…

"Eh?"

Bernard glared at the news while his entire body began to sweat, his hands were trembling, and his nether regions squeezed themselves as if he were about to piss himself.

His eyes were constantly twitching, and his mouth was wide open. It felt as if his lower jaw was about to fall off his skull, and that his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

"W-Wha… Wha… Wha… WHAAAAAAAT?!"

Bernard screamed in surprise and disbelief as he jumped out of his chair and hit himself into the wall, falling unconscious over the floor. His bald head began to bleed over the wound he inflicted on himself in the most ridiculous of ways.

"EH?! Bernard-sama!"

His servant quickly ran towards him, carrying him with his arms as he walked away.

"W-What did you read that made you so surprised?" he sighed, as he grabbed his master\'s phone and read the news while running downstairs.

"Eh?! T-The Noctem Family… All… B-Rank Hunters… Have… been promoted to A-RANK! What is this?!"

News that shook Sector D quickly spread all around.

The recently made Noctem Family Guild led by a group of B-Rank Hunters had recently promoted all of their B-Rank Members to A-Rank, the news had spread all around because A-Rank Hunters were extremely rare.

And even more… because of the ridiculousness of the notice.

They had registered as B-Rank just a bit over a week ago… and now, they had become A-Rank.

This was simply too insane, there was no way that someone could grow so strong in such little time!

They would have to fight God or something to get so much power so fast or something!

Many of the people and other Hunters had similar opinions, they had initially thought of them being fake news.

But later on, it was confirmed again by the Hunters Association.

Indeed, in these last three days, Noah and his subordinates alongside his wife, Iris, had updated their Hunter identification Cards to A-Rank, and had proven to be A-Rank after the artifacts they used to confirm Stats were used over 20 times with each one of them.

Not even the assistants watching it with their very eyes believed this.

In the end, the artifacts shattered into pieces, and the people had to give up, even as ridiculous as it sounded to become A-Rank after a week of becoming B-Rank, it was true, they had done it.

How?

The question that arose in the minds of everyone.

But Noah and his guild decided to keep the information secret, and due to their strength, people were not able to force their way into them and interrogate them.

Whatever fantastical way they used to raise so fast was kept a complete secret by the family, and now a large group of Hunters was sent from other Guilds as spies, trying to join the Guild, but being left on the waiting list.

Noah read the news while sitting over his throne, a malicious smile blossomed within his flawless lips.

"So it is out…" he said.

"Fufu, I bet everyone is freaking out now…" laughed Iris, who was sitting over his lap.

"Indeed… And the Gates will soon emerge too. We shall be the first ones to clear these B-Rank and A-Rank Gates that will appear soon," said Noah, knowing something that no one else did!

"Oh~? We might even become S-Rank soon enough! I can\'t wait~!" said Iris, as she drank blood from a glass.
